The organising committee of Marisk 2012 would like to thank the local partners and sponsors for their support to the forum as well as all speakers and moderators for taking the time to share their knowledge with the audience.
The committee congratulates also the junior conference presenters for their contributions.
Special thanks also to the exhibitors and participants for attending this event which, we hope, have met their expectations.
Finally, many attendees from all over the word have travelled to Nantes to take part in this scientific meeting and the committee is very grateful to them too.
Nearly 500 participants have joined Marisk 2012: the next edition announces to be even richer.
Let’s meet again in Nantes in 2014!

Welcome Remarks

Since its establishment in July 2004, the ISPS code has strengthened the security of maritime transport and established an international regime of cooperation between Governments, the shipping and port industry, to prevent incidents related to the security of ships and port facilities.

National Maritime College of France and Nantes Saint-Nazaire Port Authority organize since 2005 in Nantes, France, a scientific and international biennial, which has already gathered more than 1000 participants.

After the success of previous conferences and reassured by the findings of the 2009 event, Nantes will host again for two days the 4th edition, named MARISK, which will open in the maritime and port risk prevention and will consolidate the thematic safety and security, providing at the same time the possibility of a showcase for industrial products, methods and systems related. This biennial rendezvous is now unavoidable.

Aware of the policy issue, the economic scope and human dimension related to the application of new rules for safety and security, National Maritime College of France and Nantes Saint-Nazaire Port Authority are once again involved in this process through this edition whose central theme is “Safety & Security: a marriage of convenience?”. Three thrusts will thus organize exchanges: the fight against maritime crime, the definition and management of risk and the ship of the future.

This Forum will be an opportunity for meet and exchange of high level between the decision makers at conferences and roundtables hosted by international experts and on a program developed by a Scientific Committee composed by recognized experts.

Looking forward to welcoming you in MARISK.
